Our Purpose:

Kappa Gamma Chi was founded in 1919 as a literary society and was the first women's organization on the Austin College campus. The sorority attracted a diverse group as it empowered and encouraged women in higher education to have a voice. Throughout the years the group has also sponsored social events and in 1940, the Kappa's officially became a social organization.
Since our conception, certain traditions have been established which the group still upholds today. New traditions have also been added over the years. These include:
Even though our group changes from year to year with new faces and diverse women, we stay connected through our history with these fun activities. We believe that college is a time of hard work, lasting friendships and the building blocks to a successful future. We are a group of very strong, independent and professional women who are proud to be members of the oldest women's organization on the Austin College campus.

- Roo Boo Carnival Kappa Kake Walk
- Kappa 5K Roo Run
- Kappa Sweet Shoppe Rush Party
- Homecoming Kappa Kake and Tea
- Purple Reign (all-school event benefiting a charity)
- Also, very special to the hearts of the Kappas is the Kappa Fountain, located between Clyce Hall and the Hopkins Center.
